Weve talked about the benefits (and bargains) ofarchitectural salvage storesbefore, and you’re free to often find pre-gridded tile backsplash there, waiting for your next DIY project.

If you could find one you like with small enough tiles, a little trimming and you could have good-looking, durable coasters in minutes.

Instructables userJoekevdvexplained that the tile above was cheap at his local scrap store, but you could even grab some cheap at your local Home Depot if you dont have a salvage store nearby.

A little trimming to cut out the tiles you want in the shape that you want, and youre pretty much done.

Shave off the loose ends of the grid on the back of the tile, and if you want, a little hot glue on the bottom to seal it over or attach a felt or cork pad, and youre all set.

Theyre easy to clean, as durable as the tiles would be on your wall, and they look great.

Of course, you may not find this specific bang out of tile near you, but were willing to bet youll find something that you could use in a similar fashion, or a bang out of small tile you wouldnt mind using as a coaster the same way.
