We all have emotional reactions that we know arent rational or productive.
That doesnt stop them from interrupting our lives.
Youre not avoiding your thoughts.
You acknowledge them… and then turn your attention back to your senses.
To the feel of the chair beneath your butt.
To the person next to you.
For thoughts that keep playing like a broken record, try labeling them.
Of course, acknowledging your emotions shouldnt mean dismissing them.
It simply means categorically recognizing how youre likely to respond.
Sometimes external circumstances mandate a strong emotional response.
Sometimes, small things can make us fly off the handle.
