The internet is full of brilliant articles you haven’t read.

So is your read-it-later app of choice, whether it’sPocket,Readability,Instapaperor any other.

Here’s how to finally tackle that reading list, with a little help from technology.

All of these tricks will also work with Readability and Instapaper.

Sign up for an account and use theUpload Webpage featureto add any link you want.

Unfortunately, there’s no automatic way to import from Pocket or other services.

There are two benefits to Dripread.

First, the email acts as a reminder that you have a reading list to catch up on.

It’s almost become Pavlovian for me now.

More importantly, the app lets you add an RSS feed to auto-convert articles.

You canfind your Pocket RSS feeds here.

Pocketreads articles aloud on Android, but not on any other OS.

you’re free to also get anRSS of your Readabilityanda feed of any Instapaper folder.

You will have to disable password protection.

One disclaimer though: Soundgecko isn’t perfect, although it comes pretty close.

Most articles are read out perfectly, but someespecially write-ups with lots of foreign namescan sound weird.

It occasionally trips over photo captions too.

Still, it’s good 95% of the time.

Unfortunately, you don’t get that in other read-later apps.

The better option is to test your reading speed manually.

That’s your “words per minute” (WPM) reading speed.

Do this for a few more articles and you’ll find an average that you could stick to.

Now that you know your reading speed, tag articles in your read-later app.

That’s how long it will take you to read the article.

I use higher approximates for the time.

No more half-finished articles.

Update:As readerNortonHearsAWho points out, web appRead Rulerautomatically does this for Pocket articles as well.

you’re free to also test your reading speed with the app to get a more accurate estimate.

With just these few tricks, you should be able to start moving through your backlog of articles.

Still, both Dripread and Soundgecko do work with eBooks, so it might be worth a shot.
