How to Upgrade to iOS 8 Right Now

Before you upgrade, confirm you back up your unit with iTunes.

You’ll also need to restore from a recent backup on your machine, so ensure it’s there.

The final version of iOS 8 is available to developers right now.

As is always the case with these, download and install at your own risk.

Drag it to the desktop, or a folder of your choosing.

Open iTunes and connect your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, to your gear.

Browse to the .ipsw file you downloaded, select it, and wait for the update to finish.

If necessary, restore your machine from backup and sync with iTunes.
