How to Burn OS X El Capitan to a USB Flash Drive

Heres how to burn El Capitan to a USB drive instead.

Its been updated today to support El Capitan.

Download the El Capitan installer andDiskmaker X.

Insert an 8GB (or larger) flash drive.

Start DiskMaker X, choose El Capitan from the list of options, and itll handle the rest.

Download the El Capitan installer.

Insert an 8GB (or larger) flash drive and give it a name.

For this tutorial, well use the nameUntitled.

confirm the drive is formatted for OS X Extended (Journaled).

If it isnt, open up Disk Utility and format is so it is.

Before you do so, back up any important data on that drive.

Open up Terminal (Applications > Utilities).

Let the command line to its work and dont interrupt it until you see the final line that saysDone.

This can take up to a half hour, so be patient.
